International Travel

Cyprus has two international airports, Larnaka (Glafkos Clerides Airport) and Paphos International Airports.

The distance between the Larnaca International Airport and Pyla, where UCLan Cyprus is located, is 25km (15.53 miles) and between the Paphos airport and Pyla is 142km (88.23 miles).

Usually there are direct flights from most European countries and other neighbouring countries. From the USA, Australia, Africa and Asia, attendees will have to fly through one of the main European airports (e.g., London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, etc.).

Visa Information

The Visa Section of the Consulate General is responsible for receiving, processing applications and for issuing visas to foreign nationals who wish to visit Cyprus.

EU citizens do not require a visa to enter Cyprus, but they must carry a valid passport or their national identity card provided there is a photo and the citizenship is declared on the card.

Local Travel

Bus

Urban bus services exist in all major city areas, namely Nicosia, Lemesos, Larnaka, Pafos and Famagusta area. You can use urban bus services to get to and from the Larnaka airport, but also to travel around the city and between cities. A list of all buses in Larnaka including night buses, rural buses and intercity buses to and from Larnaca can be found at www.cyprusbybus.com.

Buses from Larnaka airport to Larnaka, Larnaka airport to Limassol, Larnaka airport to Nicosia and Larnaka airport to other destinations in Cyprus are also available (www.kapnosairportshuttle.com). Information is provided online for each Larnaka bus route, including bus timetables and bus route maps. Zinonas operates the public transport service in Larnaka.

From Larnaka International Airport to the nearby hotels (e.g. Tsialis/Lordos), you can take the 425 public bus to Akrolopeos Ave-Lordos (Pyla). Bus route from the hotels to UCLan Cyprus

There is a bus stop near (KOT) AND near (HENIPA) where you can get public bus 424 to UCLan Cyprus and back.

Taxi

Taxis are available on a 24-hour basis; they can either be hailed from the street or a taxi rank, or booked over the phone. You can  pick a taxi from the airport by following the appropriate signs.

Taxis are generally modern, air-conditioned vehicles, usually comfortable Mercedes, and, equipped with meters that the drivers are obliged to use. Taxi drivers are normally courteous and helpful.

Prices for airport pick ups (to be driven to nearby hotels such as Lordos, for instance) are as follows:

  • 1-4 people 18 Euro
  • 5-7 people 25 Euro
  • 7-10 people 35 Euro

Hotels

In addition to UCLan Cyprus’ student accommodation (discussed in the following section), there are many hotels in the nearby area and you can find reasonable rates and every type of accommodation to suit you. Whether you prefer a five-star hotel right on the beach with every amenity, including health centre and spa, or if you choose a hotel apartment or even a quiet hideaway in the hills in a simple family-run establishment for a back-to-nature experience, you will find what you want in Larnaka.

For your convenience, we have contacted the nearby hotels and received offers for womENcourage 2022 participants and attendees that you can claim by emailing the contacts given below and mentioning that you are an “ACM womENcourage 2022″ participant or attendee.

Catering – meals:

If you book on B/B (Bed & Breakfast) then Buffet Lunch or Dinner can be offered,  including one Cyprus drink (red or white house wine, beer, juice, soft drink and water) at the already discounted price of €20.00 per person per meal. (normal price €27.00).

All the rates are coded in Euro, included all taxes and charges, are NET non-commissionable to the hotel.

Cancellations

  • For accommodation or part thereof cancelled 7 days or less prior to the arrival of the guest, the hotels will charge accommodation fee equal to the full amount of accommodation cancelled but a maximum of three (3) nights on BB terms. For cancellations following guest’s arrival at the hotel the full amount of the booked accommodation will be charged on BB.

Terms of Payment: 50% upon confirmation, 50% prior to arrival.

Student Housing

Please note there is a limited number of rooms in the UCLan Cyprus Nest (student housing) so make sure you book early!
