Propose a Workshop or Tutorial
ACM womENcourage™ 2025 invites everyone to submit proposals for workshops and tutorials on topics related to the conference theme – Computer Science: a Catalyst for Educational Change. This is a unique opportunity to lead sessions that inspire and equip participants with the knowledge and skills to innovate within the field and, as such, to build community with people who care about the same issues, questions, and research agenda as yourself. Join us in shaping the future of education through computing.
Workshops serve as crucial platforms for deeper exploration and practical application of the ideas presented in the main sessions. They provide attendees with hands-on opportunities to engage directly with emerging technologies, such as AI, Generative AI, and Quantum Computing, or to explore innovative teaching methods, curriculum design, and digital pedagogy. Workshops enable participants to collaborate, experiment, and exchange ideas on key topics like accessibility, inclusion, and the ethical challenges in education. By focusing on interactive learning, workshops foster a deeper understanding of how computer science can drive educational innovation and equip participants with practical skills to apply in their professional contexts.
Tutorials play a vital role in providing attendees with in-depth, structured learning on specific tools, technologies, or methodologies. Unlike workshops, which are often more interactive and collaborative, tutorials are designed to teach participants step-by-step processes or concepts. Tutorials are essential for building foundational knowledge, offering participants the opportunity to enhance their technical skills and apply these directly to their research, teaching, or professional practice in the educational landscape.
Workshops and tutorials can be long (2 hours) or short (1 hours) depending on the scope and the content of the event.
Proposals (for both workshops and tutorials) should be prepared in English, using the ACM template from the packages available here (https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template). Proposals should include:
- the title;
- abstract [max 500 words];
- keywords [at least 3 keywords];
- description: objectives, goals, relevance to WomEncourge2025, and expected outcomes;
- details of organiser(s) and presenter(s);
- description of target audience and expected outcomes;
- duration, format, activities, and schedule.
Proposals should be submitted through HotCRP.
Proposal evaluation criteria
All workshop and tutorial proposals will be evaluated using the following criteria:
- Relevance to the theme and objectives of the ACM womENcourage 2025 Conference;
- Novelty with respect to the other workshops/tutorials;
- Likely impact on the target community and potential for attracting participants.
