The added value of this workshop is getting the audience to apply this technique easily using some beautiful libraries available in Python and reap the benefit of these in an innovative manner to solve real life problems they come across. Block-based languages like Scratch remove the issues of syntax, but when children transfer to textual languages like Python, the syntax can get in the way of learning. To address this problem, Felienne Hermans, associate professor at Leiden University has created Hedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this workshop, Felienne introduces the pedagogy behind Hedy, shows examples of programs created by kids and reports on technical challenges. Hedy is open source, free to use via any browser and available in 7 different languages. Hedy was launched in early 2020 and since then over 500.000 programs have been created by children worldwide.
